Patrick Maingard (MSc Oxon; GAICD)
Patrick manages his own consultancy and has gained hands on, and board director experience in both ASX listed and private company environments over the last thirty years. Patrick is passionate about the upliftment of rural communities and as such he is also involved in the agribusiness environment in Southern Africa. Bicycles for Humanity allows him to further deepen his connection in this area.
David Tucker
Director, and Chair of Management Sub-Committee
David is a retired mining industry Executive and Non-Executive Director. Having started professional life as an exploration geologist, David progressed to roles in corporate development, and in government and community relations later in his career.
David says that his working life experiences in rural and remote Australia and overseas, including southern Africa, developed a personal desire to give back to those living in very different circumstances. “Bicycles for Humanity is one great way to do that.” David is also an active Rotarian, thus contributing in many other ways.
Diane Dowdell
Non-Executive Director and Board Secretary
Diane is an environmental and social performance specialist who works globally within the resources sector. Diane has held senior management roles within start-up and multinational resource companies and has strategic leadership capability across environment and social functions on sustainability, permitting, governance and external relations. Currently, Diane works with a global mining consultancy undertaking due diligence activities for financing resource projects, having previously worked in government policy roles in her early career.
Diane's professional journey is underpinned by a strong commitment to the empowerment of remote and regional communities and the promotion of circularity practices. She has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of micro-economic activities in alleviating poverty, and she is a strong advocate for the extended use of resources. Bicycles for Humanity is a grassroots not-for-profit entity that embraces both values.
Simon Storm
Non-Executive Director and Treasurer
Simon is a retired Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary with Australian and international experience in the accounting profession and commerce. He commenced his career with Deloitte Haskins & Sells in Africa then London before joining Price Waterhouse in Perth. Since 1992 until his retirement, he held various senior finance and company secretarial roles with listed and unlisted entities in the mining, agribusiness, banking and property development industries.
Having been brought up in Africa and subsequently involved with companies with interests there, I am acutely aware how much a bicycle means to less privileged people. The ReCycle concept is a fantastic way in helping transform people’s lifestyles by easing transport burdens, whether it be overseas or at home. I am delighted to be involved in this worthy cause whereby our potential landfill is put to good use.
Len Jubber
Non-Executive Director
Len has a lifetime involvement with mining activities in multiple countries and has had first-hand experience of the transformational impact of bicycles on the lives of people in rural areas. He was the CEO of founding sponsor Bannerman Resources and has had an involvement with B4H WA ever since, including as a Director since [2018]. Len is an avid recreational cyclist and has participated in numerous charity rides including in Namibia, a repeated beneficiary of the great work done by donors and volunteers at B4H.
Kate Griffiths
Non-Executive Director
Kate is a Director in EY’s national government incentives team, with extensive professional experience assisting companies to fund accelerated growth. She has volunteered and fundraised for not-for-profit ventures throughout her life and in 2018, she joined B4H WA as a Director. Kate is a recreational cyclist, ironwoman and Mum. She is passionate about sustainability and access to education and essential services in remote communities. B4H WA restores and re-directs pre-loved bicycles from landfill to communities in need and provides sustainable and life-changing transport. Kate is delighted to support this worthy cause and the great work of B4H WA’s volunteers.
Jamie Brindle
Operations Co-ordinator
Brought up on a family orchard, Jamie attended Muresk Agricultural College, now Curtin University, later qualified in Horticulture again at Curtin University.
He joined Local Government as Parks Manager and established two Council Parks Departments in Western Australia. Later he established his own Park Management Consultancy and continued to work with city and country councils until his retirement.
While travelling around Africa Jamie recognised the need for bicycles as transport, development opportunities and healthcare in rural Africa. With the help of Matt Callaghan, Jamie was able to call for expressions of interest and together they founded Bicycles for Humanity WA in 2011, complimentary to existing B4H chapters in Melbourne, Whistler and elsewhere in Canada and USA.
Jamie is currently the B4H Operations Coordinator and Workshop Supervisor.
